The LUNA Pro Team took to the 2012 Sea Otter Classic in Monterey, CA in dominant fashion, winning three major events on the dirt. Teal Stetson Lee debuted her first pro season with a great 2nd place at the cyclo-cross event.

Congrats Melanie McQuaid, Ironman 70.3 CA Women’s Champion!

Congratulations to Team AVIA athlete Melanie McQuaid for winning the Ironman 70.3 in Oceanside, California! The title did not come easy. Melanie finished the opening 1.2-mile swim in ninth place, 2:39 behind leader Meredith Kessler. She made her move during the 56-mile bike ride. She closed to Kessler’s lead within 17 seconds at the Fifteen mile mark and took the lead by mile 25. At the start of the run McQuaid had a 3:49 lead on Rachel McBride and 4:10 on Kesseler.

“Honestly, I didn’t come here to win,” McQuaid said. “I came here to get a race in. Frankly, I’m just stoked.”

Congratulations to 2 of our Team Avia athletes Conrad Stoltz and Sara Tarkington – both taking home Championships last week!

Conrad Stoltz became the Totalsports Xterra South African Champion in Grabouw, South Africa. He finished a 1.5 km swim, 25 km mountain bike trail and a 10 km trail run in 2:26:02!

Sara Tarkington became the 2012 USA National Snowshoe Race Champion, which took place in Frisco, Colorado. She held a strong lead throughout the 10K race beating competition from all over the world!

Conrad, Sara and the rest of Team Avia are looking forward to more challenging races and tough competition coming up throughout the 2012 season. Be sure to look out for more updates about their successes along the way!
